Blown in Cellulose Insulation

Blown in cellulose insulation is a great, budget friendly option for insulation. The product is made out of recycled paper products making it environmentally friendly. These products are treated with chemicals to make it more fire retardant and less susceptible to moisture issues. The main benefit of cellulose insulation is that it can be added on top of your current attic insulation. In our area many homes see as much as a 25% savings on their heating and cooling bills when additional insulation is added to their attic assembly. This is especially the case with older homes with less (or degraded) insulation. A benefit of blown in insulation over fiberglass batts in the attic is that it creates a seamless insulation. There are no gaps at the trusses or where batts butt up against each other. If you currently have fiberglass insulation in your attic, blown in insulation can be added on top to fill any gaps and cracks giving you a more energy efficient home. This provides a very pain free experience for home owners, alleviating costly insulation removal while allowing a substantial increase in energy efficiency.
