Blown in cellulose insulation is a great, budget friendly option for insulation. The product is made out of recycled paper products making it environmentally friendly. These products are treated with chemicals to make it more fire retardant and less susceptible to moisture issues. The main benefit of cellulose insulation is that it can be added on top of your current attic insulation. In our area many homes see as much as a 25% savings on their heating and cooling bills when additional insulation is added to their attic assembly. This is especially the case with older homes with less (or degraded) insulation. A benefit of blown in insulation over fiberglass batts in the attic is that it creates a seamless insulation.
